About Hub City
We are Hub City Cycles Community Co-operative, a not for profit bike shop that has been a fixture of downtown Nanaimo since 2012. Our goal is to make cycling and bicycle maintenance more affordable, enjoyable and accessible while encouraging the reuse, repurposing and recycling of bicycles and bicycle parts.
Our used bikes are built almost exclusively from donated bicycles that we carefully repair and recondition, allowing us to put good bikes back on the road at fair prices while keeping usable materials out of the waste stream.
We offer full service repairs and tune-ups, bike rentals, new and used parts and accessories, shop and tool access, bike recycling, and hands on bicycle education and repair courses. Whether you’re looking for your first bike, getting an old favourite back on the road, or wanting to learn how to work on your own bike, we are here to help.
Become Part Of The Co-op
For just $5, you can become a lifetime member of Hub CIty. Membership give you a csay in how our co-op is run, including voting at meetings and the opportunity to run for a board position. Members can also access our shop space, tools, used parts and mechanic guidance, take courses, volunteer, and receive member benifits through The Co-operators.
No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome. Our volunteers help with everything from organizing and cleaning to stripping donate bikes, and volunteer hours can be exchanged for shop time to work on your own bike or to buy used parts.
